The Provisional National Government of the Southwestern Caucasus, commonly known as Kars Republic, was the name given to the short-lived nominally-independent provisional government based in Kars. Born in the wake of the Armistice of Mudros that ended World War I in the Middle East, it existed from 1 December, 1918 until 19 April, 1919, when it was abolished by the British. Some historians consider it to have been a pupper state of the Ottoman Empire.
Currency
The Provisional National Government of the Southwestern Caucasus didn’t have its own currency and thus the Ottoman lira was used in daily life.
